This used to be a page selling anarcho-punk T-shirts. That's because I used to do that.

After barely managing to keep Monkey-Wrench running for the last few years, and subsequently sinking alot of money into it (I did not pay myself, on the contrary, I paid it), I've decided to wrap up and finish Monkey-Wrench Graphix off as a mail-order distro.

There is still a DIY silkscreening workshop (now in London) where we bang out the odd patch or shirt design... in fact in June '02 we did some courses as part of the 56A Infoshop's "FREE SCHOOL"... and we are still interested if bands or campaigns that want a larger quantity of shirts with one design printed up- it's just the printed and mailed to order aspect that is history now. It was time-consuming and ungratifying in most respects as usually people wanted the sizes I didn't have in stock and I'd have to prepare a screen and set up everything for sometimes only one person's behalf- Crazy.

Hence, I became a slacker and I hope that I can take this space to apologise to anyone who waited too long for an order... or whose order I completely messed up.

the Future of Monkey-Wrench Graphix?

Well, as an individual I'm still interested in radical propaganda and art, whether textile printed or not. The 56a Infoshop has the beginnings of a modest Archive of Radical Graphics, which includes posters, fliers from the 80's til now, input from Anarchist Graphics and the excellent photocopy service they were providing, and anything anyone ever sent in or we've cut out of something. I'd like to work on this and see it become more comprehensive and accessable- eventually over the internet to allow anyone anywhere to tap into a huge library of anti-authoritarian art and design... and I'd like to contact people who may already be doing similar things on the web.

I am still drawing, doodling, dreaming and designing. If you need something done, from desk top publishing to photoshop to a custom line drawing or the odd punk flier, GET IN TOUCH.

And we are always keen to see more cool stuff, so if you draw or also have your own personal archive, let's share.

All the best,

em/MWG

SORRY about the SHIT quality of the scans used here.. I didn't have access to a scanner so I video taped the artwork and converted it.

T-shirts we sell:

AFA- fight the good fight in fashion.. (white ink on black shirt) Be aware that wearing Anti-Fascist gear can make you a target for the forces of reaction. (origin: Clifford Harper for AFA)

(The AFA design may change into a more general Anti-Fa one, most likely STAMP OUT FASCISM which is designed by Anarchist Graphics, a growing association of clAss struggle artists.)

Also: COMPANY MEN: "Protecting and Serving McPower" ( with riot police guarding the front window of a McDonald's store during a demonstration.. black ink on natural shirt).

Neither Nor- (white ink on black shirt) Old-school design. (origin: copied from a patch bought in New Zealand, the bird is used by Cienfuegos Press whose books are available through AK Press: http://www.akuk.com/)

STOMACH DISORDER- get the fat cats off our backs!!! People think that it is hypocritical to sell an anti-capitalist T-shirt.. but when money is abolished as the means of exhange the shirts will be free.. in fact, we'll be printing them from the huge factory that we've taken control of. But, the question is, will you weed the communal garden or pick up rubbish in exchange? (black ink on natural shirts) (origin: MWG)

Continued Willingness- (black and red ink on natural shirt) (origin: lifted from a zine.. a great graphic! If anyone knows where this design came from or can get a better copy of it, let me know.)

SPARK PLUG OF ANARCHY- The motor industry's sacred tool is "reclaimed" as a symbol of resistance. Spark off your neighbourhood with this beauty. (black and U.V. sensative red on natural T-shirt) No Freudian analysis please. (origin: MWG)

Fuctfast- if you've drank the legendary poison made by English monks, then wear the bloody T-shirt... as printed by Benadicted punx (burgendy and black ink on golden shirt) (kind of an MWG original)

(What a bad scan).. USE YOUR HANDS TO MAKE THINGS .. USE YOUR HANDS TO BREAK THINGS- the forces of human creativity and destructiion all wrapped up in one semi-obscure shirt design. (white ink on a black shirt) (origin: MWG)

NIHILISMO, the tortoise of punk individualism- EMBRACE NIHILISMO with this very silly T-shirt (white turtle-friendly ink on black shirt) (origin: MWG and clip art of turtle bashing drum.. okay! I drew the mohawk!!)

PUNK AS FUCK- (red and black ink on natural shirt) Impress your friends and have passing families on the street hate and fear you. (Origin: Adam, the drummer of Fife punk heart-throbs the Newtown Grunts.)

SPACECHRIST- piss off christians AND inspire elaborate conspiracy theories with this original design (white ink on black shirt) (PS- turn it upside down and look at it... ) (origin: MWG)

ANARCHIST BLACK CROSS benefit shirt out now from MWG and c/o ACE.

ALL SHIRTS COST:

UK £6.00 postage included.

EUROPE £7.00 postage included.

OTHER £8.00 / $12 (cash only) postage included.

Sizes are LARGE or EXTRA-LARGE.

Shirts come in black or natural (which are UNBLEACHED cotton). M.W.G. is devoted to not contributing to the poisoning of our habitat, so we print with eco-friendly inks and chemicals, recycle and all that. However at the moment we've got a load of ash grey shirts which we may use in place of the naturals until we get rid of them all (forgive us, we're skint / broke / poor), so specify if you REALLY REALLY want natural only!

All orders should include alternate choice(s) or expect delay. Make cheques (UK only) or stash cash (at your own risk) to:

MONKEY-WRENCH GRAPHIX

We also get constant shit from women who think that it is not cool that people only print in huge sizes.. it's a good point. Economically we just can't afford to buy loads of different sizes of shirts (they cost more the less you buy of one solid size and colour) and it seemed that L/XL would fit the most people. If you are small and would prefer a Small or Medium shirt let me know and I'll see what I can do, but be prepared to receive a Large or wait a long time if it can't be sorted out. If you think that we should print M/L instead of L/XL, let us know.

PS- If you'd like to use any of the designs above for any reason, please write.

Many of the designs like Neither Master, Continued Willingness have been lifted from elsewhere.. and many of the weirdo ones are original drawings, so it would be nice to know if folk used them. Monkey-Wrench Graphix is a D.I.Y. collective (of 1 at the moment) working alongside a number of campaigns and struggles for social justice including the Autonomous Centre of Edinburgh. I print T-shirts and custom design graphics for different campaign groups. I don't copyright anything, but commercial bootlegging of any of our original designs will be considered an act of aggression and be dealt with accordingly.

Wholesale prices are available.
